Statement re Misrepresentation of the Unified Protective Group Brand

It all started when…

On Monday 28th November 2022 misrepresentations were made by The Seven Network (Operations) Limited (Seven) on their 7 news program on the 4PM and 6PM broadcast, and on their 7NEWS Melbourne Facebook page as video posts, implying that Unified Protective Group were part of the Hotel Quarantine outbreaks security services.

To clarify Unified Protective Group based in Port Melbourne has at no time serviced these contracts by way of direct hire or subcontract arrangements furthermore we need to be clear that we are in no way part of or have any association with Unified Security Group based in Sydney.

In reaction to Unified Protective Group claim Seven Network (Operations) Limited (Seven) issued the following statements to Unified Protective Group:

“Seven acknowledges at the outset that an error occurred in the production of its news report regarding the criminal charges faced by Victoria’s Health Department over their handling of hotel quarantine during the Covid-19 outbreak (Report). Whilst the Report correctly named Unified Security as one of the security providers at Victorian hotels, an image of your clients’ logo was shown briefly on screen at the time that name was mentioned.

Following receipt of your clients’ complaints, Seven has removed the Report from any online platforms, including Facebook, and has alerted production staff to the issue to ensure your clients’ logo is not used again in any similar reports. Seven has also published the following correction on its website at https://7news.com.au/news/7news-melbourne-correction-c-9015021

“In our reporting yesterday of criminal proceedings against Victoria’s Health Department in relation to the hotel quarantine saga, we referred to Unified Security which was one of the hotel quarantine security providers. However, we mistakenly included an image of the logo of another security firm, Unified Protective Group, which is not connected in any way with Unified Security or the hotel quarantine system. We apologise for our error in including that image.””
